Ware Malcomb and Vesta Announce Construction is complete and Certifications are in Progress on New Vesta Corporate Headquarters in Mexico
First Project in Mexico to Pursue both WELL and LEED Certification
MEXICO CITY (March 7, 2016) – Ware Malcomb, an award-winning international design firm, and Corporación Inmobiliaria Vesta, S.A.B. de C.V. (“Vesta”) (BMV: Vesta), a leader in the development of industrial buildings and distribution centers in Mexico, today announced construction is complete and certifications are in progress on the new Vesta corporate headquarters located at Arcos Bosques in Bosque de las Lomas in Ciudad de México, Mexico. Ware Malcomb provided full service interior design, branding and construction management services for the project.
The 900 square meter project is pursuing LEED ID+C Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, as well as WELL BUILDING STANDARD® Gold certification from the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), the first tenant improvement project in Mexico to be built to this specification. WELL is the world’s first building standard focused on human health and wellness, setting performance requirements in seven categories relevant to occupant health in the built environment: air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort and mind.
To cater to Vesta’s dynamic multi-generational work force and meet WELL’s guidelines, the building floor plan was divided into four different zones: the Focus Zone supports work that requires concentration; the Interactive Zone is designed to bring employees together in formal and informal settings; the Quiet Zone helps staff to refresh and reenergize by stepping away from technology; and the Teaming Zone enables team members to work together with collaborative digital tools. Creating distinct, yet cohesive zones visually connects the overall open office environment to the collaborative spaces, conference center and other amenities, including a canteen and break room for employees. The contemporary design aesthetic incorporates the Vesta “V” and other aspects of the brand. Forward-thinking technology is also integrated throughout the space, from the Lutron window shades to the telepresence capabilities in the conference rooms.
“Our new corporate headquarters reflects our brand, quality, high service standards, contemporary aesthetics, and dedication to excellence,” said Lorenzo Berho, Chairman and CEO of Vesta. “The interior design promotes collaboration and efficiency, reflecting Vesta’s company values. Importantly, it was built with our employees’ well-being in mind to the highest wellness and sustainability standards. We are confident this space will provide an effective and engaging work environment for many years to come.”
“It is an exciting opportunity to design the corporate headquarters of not only one of the most important developers in Mexico, but our first client here. We have worked with Vesta over the past ten years, and continue to work with them throughout Mexico,” said Andres Galvis, Regional Director of Latin America for Ware Malcomb. “This building marks an important milestone for Vesta, and our interior design and branding work reflects this. Moreover, as the first tenant improvement project in Mexico to seek WELL certification, along with LEED, this building is an important symbol of the future of commercial construction across the country.”
The general contractor for the project was Seica.
